So my friend has ask me how to fake cross processing in lightroom….given I had to google cross processing, so I think it was pretty safe to say that I am not a master in the matter. Perhaps something is better when you actually look at the develop panel…

Oh, and for those who have an issue with me using FREE file sharing site to let you download these FREE presets just because you have to wait 10 seconds…you know where to stick it…and please visit SOME OTHER site that ask for your money….I am not doing this for the money..fame may be, but definitely not wishing to gain money…so please FORGIVE me for not PAYING for file sharing just so you don’t have to wait….sorry I wasted your 10seconds, but in retrospect, understand that I had to spend a lot more than that of my time to adjust, export and post these for others to download….move along now.

Peace offering ~ ass kicked retro lightroom preset

I am up to my knees with the wedding photo editing, luckily with the wedding season almost winding down I am taking a bit of break from editing all the happy smiley photos.

So, judging from how popular the Retro preset are (4000+ download!),  I venture out a bit and give you the ass kicked retro and amp up retro.

The amp up retro are use for underexposed shoot, and the ass kicked retro turn down some of the color intensity .

Epiphany at my 1st event gag ~ 2 new preset

Strobe: Speedlite 580 on camera ceiling bounce on to the glass plane (it’s a solarium after all)

Slow shutter and 2nd curtain synch, I know this is an old capture, but really this photo mean so much to me. It’s my 1st professional gag and 3 months into my Langara classes, my epiphany of “hey, I am actually pretty good at this…I am like kinda awesome at capturing the moment…”

B&W baby beauty & Pink new skin

The heat wave arrive in Vancouver during the weekend, and thus I can finally do naked baby beauty shoot. I had been waiting FOREVER, since when Aidan was born, it was in the dead of winter, and then by summer time, the 7months old was pretty oppose in nakedness..

These were shot with a navy blue blanket lying on the day bed..with me hovering on top of Don…
Speedlite place on CL. Window light as fill.

I was trying to copy the concept from the photos of No.1 fan Using a hard light (speedlite with snoots on one side) to get a really sudden transition area of the baby’s hand; yet use a huge and soft light source (window light) to light his face.

Donovan

I had mostly use my skin tone only preset for baby Don’s photo…I just like the effect, and hey my kid has a dark yellow skin tone..(olive-ish yellow) and with my pasty white skin (blood lost and sleepless night) it seem to be the only thing that I can do to balance the two out…

I did change the tone curve and saturation up a bit from the “MB photobooth skin tone only” preset, but the merit are the same. Bare in mind that you will have to work around the WB and the hue in HSL for each different situation. I had use bounce flash with these raw, but because the blind that I bounced it on had a light cream color, the WB was not too out of wack.

Introducing……

He came out early!! Guess he can’t wait for the planned c-section date. Actually he is about 2 weeks earlier than his due date…

We are still pretty tired but excited. Aidan kept telling me that ..er…baby is crying..may be we should go check?

With this exciting addition, please note that I might not be able to keep the usual response time with emails. I will try my hardest to reply but it may take up to a few days~

A very tired Vivian.

RS party animal & Retro normal preset

I usually will like to develop a couple of different special toning effect for each wedding, because I believe each couple has different taste, so like B&W, some like color manipulation, some like Sepia.

Tailor to Randi’s taste, I re-develop the party animal and the retro normal presets so they will work really great for her wedding photos. These version are more tame…and while it still leak through some of the red, they are not as pronounce.

You can download the preset here : RS party animal & Retro preset

All Download link had been fixed! YAY!

So I finally got off my butt and upload all of presets to 4shared. I think I will make this a sticky (changed the date to like 2013) anyhow, I just upload ALL of the lightroom preset on it…you still have to go to individual post to download each link…if you are interested in all of them, please email me at preset@vivianchung.com…or leave a message in the comment section. You don’t actually have to write down your email in the comment, since I can get that from the form. Again, the purpose of this is just to share, but please don’t take my preset and call it your own, ok?

This following is the instruction for preset download:

Develop preset:

Method 1:

After download, copy and paste the whole “preset” folder to this directory

C:\Documents and Settings\your_user_name\Application Data\Adobe\Lightroom\Develop Presets

OR go to “start” and “run”…and copy and paste the above line (don’t forget to change YOUR USER NAME to well, your user name

Method 2:

After download, open lightroom and go to Develop mode.
In the preset panel, Mouse over on any preset that is NOT LIGHTROOM DEFAULT, then right click your mouse and select IMPORT

I recommend using method one, because it is the fastest and quickest way, plus you can organize your preset folder this way.

AFTER apply the preset:

Note that every photo contain different exposure and color tone, you will have to adjust the following in order to achieve the effect of the sample photo:

WB
Tone (esp: Fill light and Blacks)
Tone Curve
HSL (esp: Saturation and Luminance for color manipulation preset)
Camera Calibration (Treat it as channel mixer in photoshop.)

Have fun! If you do post these on public site such as Flickr, please tag “Vivian Chung’s preset” so I will know how it turns out!
